At
Our Native Village we aim to increase awareness that
a balanced lifestyle need not be one that is lacking
in variety, flavour and excitement, but with just a
little care and creativity it is possible to live healthy
holistic lives.
Our guests enjoy wholesome, delicious vegetarian and
vegan friendly food. We call it Compassionate Food.
Being kind, loving and caring....
towards the environment, by choosing organic produce
thus not poisoning the soil and water - towards the
animal kingdom, by not killing and causing suffering
- towards the human being, by providing food that is
free from stress, suffering and harmful chemicals. Most
of the organic produce is either grown in our organic
farm, or sourced locally.
However, what’s most important to your well being, is
that the food is made with love, by people who are happy
to cook for you!
- We use whole grains,
which are a great source of B vitamins, vitamin E, magnesium,
iron and fiber, as well as other valuable antioxidants.
This means unpolished rice, whole grain bread, red rice
dosas and idlis, etc. We do not use refined flour.
Benefits: Whole grains
have been shown to reduce the risk of heart disease
by decreasing cholesterol levels, blood pressure, and
blood coagulation. They have also been found to reduce
the risks of many types of cancer and help regulate
blood glucose in people living with diabetes. Other
studies have also shown that people who consume more
whole grains consistently weigh less than those who
consumed less whole grain products.
- Jaggery or unrefined sugar is
our sweetener of choice. When you get used to
this pure flavour, white sugar which is treated with
many harmful chemicals will no longer be an option for
you. We even make our own jams from seasonal fruits
and jaggery to ensure you get to eat fully organic.
Benefits: Popularly known
as “Medicinal Sugar”, jaggery is digested slowly and
is not instantly absorbed into the blood. It is a good
source of magnesium which helps to relieve fatigue along
with relaxation of muscles, nerves and blood vessels.
Jaggery is very good for anemic people as it is rich
in iron. The other minerals in it, help maintain blood
pressure, reduce water retention, act as an antioxidant
and a blood purifier.
- Our cooking is Oil-Free.This
is an amazing and impossible thought for most cooks,
but we have perfected the art. So instead of deep-fried
fatty bajjis and pakodas, snack on our healthy and tasty
corn bhel, and potato tikkis.
Benefits: Low oil food,
cuts out on the fat. This helps to maintain a healthy
cholesterol level and prevents excessive weight gain.
Foods that are not fried also maintain most of their
nutritive properties.
- Our food is vegan friendly ie.
free of all animal protein and dairy. We use
a variety of supplements for dairy products. Peanut
curd replaces cow’s milk curd, coconut milk instead
of milk, tofu replaces paneer and nut butters replace
dairy butter.
Benefits: You can be free
from animal protein that is present in milk and milk
products too. Animal protein is one of the known triggers
for many allergies, cancer, heart problems and diabetes.
The milk from dairy farms contains antibiotics and harmful
stress hormones because of the inhuman treatment of
cows.
- We serve relaxing herbal teas
(basil, lemon grass, hibiscus, ginger, cinnamon, all
spice, etc.) However, keeping in mind the challenge
our chai/coffee loving guests may have, we serve cow’s
milk with tea and coffee upon request.
Benefits: Herbal teas are
calming, detoxify, stimulate digestion and have antioxidant
properties too..
- Cooking is done using Bio Gas
instead of LPG - Bio gas is generated in our
bio gas plant.
Benefits: This is an eco
friendly choice, and minimizes the use of LPG gas. Bio
gas flame has lower heat, and so the food is cooked
slowly and retains more nutrients and flavours.

While it’s wonderful to eat healthy
during your stay with us, here are some healthy eating
habits you can incorporate into your daily lives:
1. Become a vegetarian. This is the first and most important
step towards a healthy and caring lifestyle. In time,
according to your body’s needs, see if you can also
reduce and eliminate milk and dairy products from your
diet.
2. Eat organic food, as far as possible. The extra flavour
of the food is an added benefit to the fact that you
are no longer ingesting harmful carcinogenic and gene
altering chemicals.
3. Take out all refined foods from your diet. Eg. Refined
flour (Maida), Sugar and artificial sweeteners, White
rice, White bread. Go for unrefined sugar (jaggery),
whole grains and lentils instead.
4. Avoid fried foods and as far as possible remove preserved
foods from your daily diet. Eg. Packaged Jams, Sauces,
etc.
5. Include a lot of raw vegetables, sprouts (steamed
if you have trouble with digestion), and green leafy
vegetables. Would you like to have one raw meal a day?
Fill up on refreshing salads, raw soups and veggie juices.
6. Eat at reasonable timings and try to have dinner
by 7.30pm. If not possible have a healthy filling snack
(eg. Rotis or whole grain sandwich, etc.) in the evening
and just a soup and salad for dinner.
7. Avoid combining raw fruit and cooked food, because
they digest differently. Have your fruit at least 30
minutes before you eat a cooked meal.
8. Replace tea and coffee with healthy herbal teas.
You will free yourself from the caffeine, tannin and
the extra milk.
9. Take time to understand your body’s requirements
and study your craving patterns. You will soon understand
how to satisfy yourself in a healthy way.
10. Most importantly, perceive your food with an attitude
of gratitude, thanking Mother Nature, the Farmer, the
Middle Men, and Life for providing you with delicious
nourishment.
